Today's challenge presented by the U.S. Marine Corps was the Ammo Can Challenge. The ammo can was filled with sand and weighed approximately 30 pounds. The concept was to lift the ammo can from chest height to above the head as many times within 2 minutes. The most reps completed was 91. A big thanks to the U.S. Marine Corps Recruiters for the information and fun.

The Recruiters from the U.S. Marine Corps will be at Glennallen High School today. Last visit the students participated in the pull up challenge. During this visit, the Recruiters have another challenge for the students. Stay connected for pictures and the surprise challenge!

We need volunteers to help out at the Cross Country meet at Kenny Lake School on Saturday, September 3rd. If you can volunteer, please come to the school lobby at 9:30 AM for volunteer information. The first race starts at 11:00 AM. Come and cheer our District runners on.
Panther Volleyball is starting soon. Coach Cheralea Purcell scheduled a mandatory parent meeting for all volleyball parents and athletes on Tuesday, September 6 at 4:45 pm in the High School Commons.
On Wednesday, 10/05/22 at 5:30 PM, there will be a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) presentation at GHS hosted by the PWSC Student Affairs department.
Filling out a FAFSA is required to secure student loans. In addition, many grants and scholarships require a current FAFSA application to be on file. The 23-24 filing period opens on 10/01/22.
If you have a student who is a 12th grader at CRSD, you are encouraged to attend. A Q&A session will follow. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Dale.

On Wednesday, 10/12/22, an admissions officer from UAA will be at GHS to do a presentation about the college, talk about academic programs, and answer student's questions. The presentation will take place during Plus-Period and will begin at 8:40. Parents/Guardians are invited!
The Personnel Committee of the Copper River School District Board of Education (Board) has completed interviews with Interim Superintendent candidates. We have selected a candidate to negotiate a contract with and are in the process of developing a compensation package and service agreement for a contract to be presented to the Board.
Our goal is to have this contract ready for the next regular Board meeting. If we cannot meet a September 6 deadline we may request a postponement of the regular meeting by up to a week or request a special Board meeting.
Kenny Lake School is once again hosting a Cross Country meet on Saturday, September 3. We need lots of volunteers to make this happen. If you can help please call the school at 907-822-3870. It would be greatly appreciated.

Glennallen Schools Back to School Assemblies will take place tomorrow, August 23rd. GES at 8:30 in the MPR and GMHS at 8:45 in the HS Gym. Parents and families are welcome to join!
Glennallen Schools will host a "Meet and Greet" for families to meet teachers and administrators this afternoon in the GES MPR from 4:30-6 PM! Ice cream will be provided.
Tuesday, August 9, 2022, the school board approved the revision to the school-year calendar. Therefore, each Friday beginning on August 26, 2022, school will be dismissed at 2:00 pm. During these Friday early releases, teachers and administrators will participate in professional development to enhance and strengthen their skills and pedagogy and participate in professional learning communities. Because education is forever changing, this is a great opportune time for teachers to tailor their instructions to fit our students' needs. Again, this is on Fridays only.
